Boing Boing had something to say about a recent Cato institute paper: Only traitors try to make us afraid of terrorists. They are right. Terrorism is about creating fear. Fearmongers are doing the terrorists jobs for them.
The excellent bit of this Schnier post on the new security rules is in the comments - particularly as you dig into them.
Next up- They actually publish good commentary in Slate. This article on the impossibility of being secure, is right on the money for most of it's length.
And the often hilarious wondermark has something to say as well :)
Love / Hate
21:42:30 MST on Wednesday August 9 2006 #So when I was waiting a for a process to end earlier today I tried likebetter again as this weekend, when I first tried, they had server problems and well, it sucked. Now it works - but it seems to get old fast.
However -- they showed me a pic of this T-Shirt, which I absolutely love.
The fontography is amazing - our brains will do crazy things to makes sense out of scrawl - but that still required skill. And of course you had to have the idea that you could do such a thing - which is the larger hurdle.
And of course as a design it rocks - the mirror concept is in the mirror image. But also the raw aggression of the "Hate" is mellowed by the existence of the love. And of course by the funky font.
That pic just made me happy.
